BJP leader and Mumbai District Central Cooperative
Bank’s chairman Pravin Darekar has been booked for allegedly causing the
bank a loss of Rs. 123 crore since 1998.
Confirming
this, a Mumbai Police officer said the FIR against Mr. Darekar was
registered on Friday based on a complaint lodged by advocate Vivekanand
Gupta.
In his complaint, Mr. Gupta has accused Mr. Darekar of fraud and embezzlement of funds.
A case was registered against Darekar and another former chairman of the bank Shivaji Nalawade.
Bank officer Prakash Shirwadkar has also been named as an accused.
