Leader of the Opposition Surya Kanta Mishra demanded on Friday arrest within seven days of those who were involved in the murder of Left leaders and workers after the installation of the new Trinamool-Congress government in West Bengal.He was delivering his speech on Governor M K Narayanan’s address in the State Assembly. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was present in the Assembly when Mishra raised his demand.
Mishra while was presenting a vivid picture of the post-poll violence across the State with details accounts of how Trinamool activists had unleashed a reign of terror, he was from very beginning being prevented by a section of members from the Treasury Bench with shouts obviously with the intention of creating disturbances in the House. Amid complete chaos the Leader of the Opposition had to occasionally stop delivering his speech.
Despite frequent interruptions Mishra said how with the Trinamool-Congress combine coming to power the Left Party leaders and workers were being implicated in false cases, their houses being looted and burnt, and even women supporters in rural areas becoming victims of rape and molestation. He alleged that the new government was silent spectator to all these misdeeds and wrongdoings.
Mishra alleged that so far 16 Left leaders an workers were killed by Trinamool gangsters, 617 were admitte4d to hospitals after being injured as a result of Trinamool attacks, 189 women raped , 628 CPI(M) party offices demolished and 193 offices occupied. Besides, 11,213 CPI(M) workers, supporters and sympathizers had been rendered homeless. The number of those party supporters who were forced to leave their home and found no shelter in camps is nearly 40,000. Meanwhile, 354 bargadars were evicted and their land grabbed.
The Leader of the Opposition pointed out that Mamata Banerjee had made a move to reopen certain cases like Sain House case, Marichjhapi case and Kasipur case which were settled 30 to 40 years ago. But she was totally indifferent to what was going in the name of victory celebration by Trinamool goons, he alleged.
