Bomb hits US consulate car in Peshawar

A roadside bomb has hit a US consulate vehicle in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, causing minor wounds to some Americans, an embassy spokesman said.
Two armoured vehicles were travelling on University Road when the blast occurred. One of the vehicles was damaged, he said.

A passer-by, a Pakistani citizen, was killed in the attack, police said.
Pakistan has seen a spurt in violence since al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was killed earlier this month.
Al-Qaeda and its Pakistan Taliban allies have threatened to avenge the 2 May killing by US commandos.
Last Friday, a twin suicide bombing killed more than 80 people, most of them paramilitary recruits, in north-west Pakistan.
"There was an attack on a two-car convoy from the consulate in Peshawar. One car was hit," news agency Reuters quoted US embassy spokesman Alberto Rodriguez as saying.
Some of the Americans in the vehicle were slightly wounded and one of the automobiles was damaged during the attack, he said.
Reports said the car rammed into a pole and its bonnet was damaged.
The US consulate in Peshawar has been targeted in the past too.
In August 2008, one of the diplomats at the consulate survived an attack on her armoured vehicle.
