Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan said here on Wednesday said the LDF government would retain power in the State.
Speaking to journalists after a Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said the Front would have decent majority to rule the State. (Counting of votes in the State Assembly elections is slated for May 13).
Asked whether he would continue as Chief Minister, he said the matter was to be decided. Mr. Mr. Achuthanandan refuted reports that there was a stand-off between higher-ups in the police force and him over investigation of the case against former Minister and Muslim League leader P. K. Kunhalikutty. “The reports are baseless.”
He also brushed aside allegations made by Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy about enquiry into the cases against his son Arun Kumar.
He said that V. K. Balakrishnan would be appointed as Inspector General of Registration, replacing the person who was holding charge of the post now. An enquiry was on into the primitive customs carried out to ‘cleanse’ the office following retirement of Inspector General A. K. Ramakrishnan.
